Croquet is a traditional English game from the mid-19th Century. there are many variations of how you can play the game but the simplest it to hit the ball with the mallet through the hoops. Taking it in alternate turns a player can start their turn by striking either of their balls, a turn consists of a single stroke, after which the turn ends.
